:: Diminutive Antique Silk Tabriz rug mat. Rare type + rare size antique silk Tabriz ca. 1890 of the 'Haji Jalili' variety. Center medallion with open ivory field, rust / orange across. Some very light hints of green (unique!) and a lovely shade of light purple. A true gem with great knot density. The rug measures in excess of 400 knots per inch: without an immediate reference point for size, the intricacy of this rug lends to the appearance of a carpet in much large proportions. A very fine weave. There were never a great deal of these made: While the type itself is relatively rare, the most common size is approximately 4x6, and many of the smaller sizes were woven much less frequently and considerably more prone to damage or loss. Only a handful of this size, type and age ever surface, with only a few sold publicly in the last several decades only to be stowed away in private collections. Rug mat being sold in as-is condition, cleaning options available by request upon purchase only. Some slight scattered stains as you can see in photos but not terribly noticeable and still shows beautifully. Size measures 1'10" x 2'7"
